UAE PAVILION EXPO 2020

A POWERFUL TESTAMENT TO THE REGION’S CHARACTER

The United Arab Emirates National Pavilion for Expo 2020 in Dubai symbolises the country’s history of falconry and its bold and daring spirit which has transformed a collection of small desert communities into a global hub for commerce and tourism.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team including Santiago Calatrava and WME (Now Egis Engineering), Pascall+Watson have created and coordinated the designs for the futuristic structure. The key feature of the scheme is a series of huge metal-clad roof forms which open on a single pivot to provide a direct connection with the outside air.

Sitting at the heart of the Expo’s exhibition area, the 15,000m² LEED Platinum building is one of the focal points of the event offering exhibition spaces, an auditorium, cafe areas and VIP lounges.

“The pavilion reflects the UAE's commitment to embracing modernity and taking bold steps on the global stage. It’s a powerful testament to the nation’s character and forward-thinking vision.”
